What does a food safety scientist eat? A discussion about food facts, fears and fads.

November 26th, 1:00-3:00 pm

Canadians enjoy one of the safest and abundant food supplies in the world. Yet, there is an overload of information warning of foods and food ingredients that should be avoided to protect health. Examples are aspartame, MSG, foods in containers made with BPA, as well as any foods that are not organically-grown or all-natural. Dr. Magnuson will explain what some of these ingredients are and what they do in your body, so you can discern fact from fear. Consumers are urged to seek all-natural and organic foods - is this just a fad or is there evidence for health benefits? Dr. Magnuson will explain what these terms mean, both legally and scientifically, so you can make more informed choices for you and your family.
